Sydney Steen creates sculptures and paintings that hover in between real and imagined. Inspired by geological formations and expansive landscapes, her work examines how memory and perception shape our definitions of landscape. Steen graduated from UNC MFA in 2015 and spent the summer research painting and mark-making in Iceland. She is the Co-Founder and Director of Public Relations for Subverbal Collective, as well as the artist-in-residence for Spectre Arts. She currently resides in Durham, NC.
